Cymen was established in 1987 by Carolyn Iorwerth and Eleri Lovgreen, the company's current directors, to undertake written translation.
As the company developed over time, simultaneous translation and subtitling were taken on board. In 1999, the subtitling section was sold, in order to concentrate all resources on the growing demand for translation work.
Additional staff were employed to meet the increased demand and now, in addition to 10 full time members of staff Cymen employs the services of 15 experienced freelance translators, each one fully steeped in the company's style and principles.
Initially, both founders worked from their respective homes, but as the business grew, they decided to rent and convert suitable office space in Caernarfon. In 1995, a near derelict building within the town walls was bought and converted into comfortable, friendly open-plan offices.
